Taboo

Puhleez help us oh Lord! Not only must we fight the homophobic world at large, we have to be wary of homophobia in the guise of gay films! “Taboo” is just one such film. Luring us with its brilliant cinematography, costuming, set design, superb acting (for all except the lead); it’s ending leaves us with the message tht homosexuals must be murdered because they disturb society’s equilibrium. Hayuvn’t we hayud enough of this?

The year is 1865 - the location is Kyoto, Japan - and the scene is a samurai training school where new recruits are being tested with their fencing skills. These samurai warriors are to keep peace in a Kyoto which is being sorely tested

Kate Clinton - Climate Change - New CD!

In a climate when most truth is inconvenient, trusted veteran weathergirl/comic Kate Clinton tracks the rapidly changing affronts of homophobia, the high atmosphere clashing of religious and secular systems, the aftermath of hurricanes of government neglect and the low pressure of despair. Unlike other reporters, content to report from the comfortable studio of complacency, she reports in her little yellow slicker of  comedy, buffeted by the winds of war, almost blinded by the driving sleet of sexism. Based on her daily analysis, and long range study of weather patterns, she forecasts the high pressure of working for peace and that it will indeed get lighter toward the daybreak of justice. Tracklist includes Miss Construe, Guest Worker, Buckshot Lunch, Croc of Gold, [Hucka] Bee Colony Collapse, Fagadoodle, I 8 Suze Orman, and Deadline Comic.

Come Undone

While some might quote the marketing headline, “Come Undone is a sexually charged and intelligent French film about two young guys in love - plenty of nudity, sex and substance!” ah think this ol’ Suthen Belle is goan to reveal her inner feathahz … Ah really don’t understay-und French films. Thay-uh always so … so … boring. So much “day-in-the-life” style and not enough DRAMA. An this queen needs her drama. Yes. Ta is a victim of American movie pablum.

Gorgeous bronzed bodies on the beaches of southern France and a passionate romance between two French teens are reason enough to see Come Undone, but this bittersweet film also has something poignant to say about

Twilight of the Golds

Twilight of the Golds, based on the (very brief Broadway play of the same name (The play and screenplay were written by (Jonathan Tolins), is an “issue” drama about Suzanne (Jennifer Beals), who learns that her unborn child will be gay. The film takes an intelligent approach to the “environment vs. heredity” debate. Something Ah believe we already know - being gay is as genetic as eye color!

The “problem” of being gay is sketchily addressed — it is even likened to a disease when Walter (Garry Marshall, his father, retorts that Fraser essentially is sick — but once viewers get over this hurdle, the film is

Brother’s Price by Wen Spencer

Wen Spencer has always given us great science fiction: compelling characters, interesting backgrounds, compelling stories. In the four books of her Ukiah, Oregon series - spanning just four months in the character’s life - she showed us a band of heros pitted against an evil alien empire bent on taking over Earth and wiping out all life as we know it, right under our noses today, unnoticed by the general population. Among her heros are gays, lesbians, Native

Endgame

Ah thought Ah would love this Brit film called “Endgame”. It hayuz all the elements - “Official Selection” status from the Philly Gay & Lesbian Film Fest, a stunningly handsome boy, and the edgy darkness of a thriller.

“Endgame” stars Daniel Newman (oooo the English accent, the pouty lips, the body of Apollo! Ah’m in LOVE!) as Tom, a rent boy who is kept by the dashingly evil - and vile - George Norris (Mark McGann), a sado-masochistic gangster. Tom is kept in high style in a London flat filled with pop art and a bedroom set up, not only for sex, but also for blackmail with a hidden camera focused on the red silk bedsheets. Tom is being sucked down into a nasty scheme

Stonewall

Ah must first say that you MUST click the links and buy “Stonewall” title IMMEDIATELY. Not only is the film filled with Fabulousness - much like myself! - it is a dramatic and stirring tale about the most momentous moment (hmmm) in homosexual history!

Far from being a dry, fictionalized account of the people involved in the 1969 Stonewall Riots, this adaptation of Martin Duberman’s book is instead a rollicking musical drama that successfully blends gay history and queer fabulousness to wonderful effect.

This what-might-have-been-happening on the days
